The Count

An interesting story has come from Brian O’Loughlin in Melbourne regarding ‘The Count’, whose entry is now included in the People>Australia page. Brian writes:

Dunnstown, near Ballarat in Victoria

I arrived in Dunnstown and noticed a small hall. There was a noticeboard outside stating that the hall could be booked for various functions.

I decided to hold an O’Loughlin Family Reunion there. No problem. The reunion went well.

However, eventually I found out that the Hall was built on land owned by original O’Loughlins from Ireland. Serendipity? Something more, perhaps.

This is the hall where you [Edward] visited us.

PS.  The local Dunnstown church was built, I believe with funds from The Count. Also, he donated all the Glass windows in the beautiful St Patrick’s Cathedral in Ballarat.
